May ODEI Resource Page

Welcome to May, a month brimming with celebration, reflection, and commencement festivities! As we step into this vibrant month, we embrace a diverse tapestry of cultures, identities, and historical moments.

Throughout May, we commemorate:

  • Asian American Pacific Islander and Native Hawaiian Heritage Month
  • Haitian Heritage Month
  • Jewish Heritage Month
  • Indian/South Asian/Desi Heritage Month
  • Mental Health Month

We also observe and reflect upon significant dates in May:

  • May 5: Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah)
  • May 8: Time of Remembrance and Reconciliation for those who Lost their Lives during WWII
  • May 28: Memorial Day

These observances offer us opportunities to learn about and celebrate the rich traditions and contributions of communities across the United States and the world, as well as raise awareness of important societal and cultural issues and dates.

May also marks the culmination of academic journeys for many in our community. This spring, we have 2,068 graduates who range in age from 18 to 77 from nearly every county in the state! Congratulations to all!

So let us welcome May with open hearts and minds, embracing diversity, honoring history, and celebrating the achievements of all who contribute to the richness of our world. May your month be filled with joy, unity, and a deep sense of appreciation for the tapestry of humanity that binds us all together.
