Citizen Science Central The Beetle Project

Citizen Science

Citizen science happens when ordinary people collect useful scientific data on real-world problems. The data being collected is sought by active researchers and students learning the scientific theory. Participants learn basic science, improve the quality of life in their communities, and contribute to real research.

The projects listed here are active citizen science projects that welcome participation. However, Empire State University invites anyone with a project idea to develop their own citizen science project using the Citizen Science Template. Projects can be posted on this site as a way to invite participation, or they can be kept private for a specific course or learning exercise.

The Citizen Science Template was developed using an open source, packaged Drupal Installation Profile customized for mapping points onto a map. Using this template will allow project developers to map just about anything.
