Graduate Nondegree Study

Taking Courses at the Master's Level

Nondegree (nonmatriculated) students may enroll in a limited selection of courses offered by the School for Graduate Studies each term (fall, spring and summer). Please see the term guide for more information about course offering and restrictions. Graduate level course numbers range from 5000 to 8999.

Applicants for nonmatriculated study in the School for Graduate Studies must provide an official transcript verifying completion of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university. More details about nonmatriculated study are available.

Graduate Nonmatriculated Study Request:

  1. Apply for graduate nonmatriculated study through the online application. Applications for the summer 2024 term will be considered until April 26. 
  2. Please have an official transcript verifying completion of a bachelor's degree sent to the Empire State University Admissions Office, 111 West Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. If using an electronic service, have the email sent to Admissions@sunyempire.edu
  3. After we review your request and your transcript, you will be notified by the School for Graduate Studies whether or not you are accepted. If you are eligible for nonmatriculated study, you will receive an email from the School for Graduate Studies with information on getting started.
