Immersive Cloud Learning

By now, you’re probably familiar (or somewhat familiar) with “the cloud” or “cloud computing” – a way of storing and accessing information and programs over the Internet.

At SUNY Empire, we use cloud computing, or immersive cloud learning (ICL), to broadcast a course from one location (source room) to students in other locations (destination rooms). For example, a faculty mentor in Manhattan can simultaneously teach a course in art history – in real time – to students in Staten Island and Rochester.

It’s important to note that when you enroll in an ICL course, you will need to be physically present in a SUNY Empire destination classroom to participate. You cannot join an ICL class from home.
