The platform on which SUNY Empire's courses will be hosted beginning Fall 2022.

When your university accounts have been accessed by someone other than yourself and without your permission. When someone else or something else has access to your credentials.
When course content from Moodle is processed to display within Brightspace’s environment.
Empire Online will be “cleaning up” identified Fall 2022 courses to address conversion issues.

Formerly SUNY Online, this is program allows SUNY Empire students to take courses at another institution within the SUNY system, and vice versa.
The company that supports and provides access to Brightspace.
A coordinated integration of a Learning Management System (LMS), related tools, and architecture comprises a DLE. The LMS is the hub of any Digital Learning Environment (DLE).

Sections of online courses that are individually developed and typically taught by a single faculty member. Like masters, faculty pour sections must go through the instructional design process and adhere to design, accessibility, copyright, and other applicable standards. The platform on which courses are delivered.
An online library for storing, managing, and sharing your learning resources (learning objects).

A version of an online course developed and administered in such a way that the course template can be readily taught by a number of instructor types, including adjuncts. Most of our online undergraduate sections, credits, and students are taught in master sections. These sections will likely continue to constitute approximately 95% of our online undergraduate credits. Associate department chairs are responsible for master courses (with specific responsibilities articulated in the ADC position description). An electronic method of authenticating your identity when logging on to a server. You must enter at least two pieces of information to access account information and verify your identity.

These courses are created upon request of an employee or department. These shells are designed for non-credit-bearing courses. Examples include new student orientation or the EET Moodle Services Portal. Some university faculty members and professionals also request sandboxes to test ideas and develop new content not directly connected to a credit-bearing course.

A template of a course that can be "poured" or copied from one course into another.

When an individual can authenticate their identity (e.g. by logging in from an authorized email, phone number, or app) and change/update their SUNY Empire password for single sign-on (SSO).
When users can log in with a single username and password to several software systems.
When a course shell is saved to begin the conversion process from Moodle to Brightspace.
Note: no updates made to a Moodle shell after this date will appear in Brightspace.

A group of users who share access to a software instance. This is how we will share space on the Digital Learning Environment SUNY-wide.

An instructor-led course consisting of a combination of asynchronous activities and scheduled virtual synchronous meetings. Information regarding days and times of scheduled synchronous meetings is shared in advance of the first day of classes and is included in the term guide.
