“Local Hero,” an essay by Professor Deborah Smith, to Air on WAMC’s “51%”

Professor of Community and Human Services Deborah Smith’s audio essay, “Local Hero,” will be aired on WAMC Northeast Public Radio’s program “51%,” at 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, and again at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15.

"Local Hero," it is about Smith finding personal correspondence, saved over many decades, from the Kennedy White House to her aunt, Josephine Kennedy (no relation).

She submitted the essay to coincide with President's Day and the current movie "Jackie," which is about the life of Jackie Kennedy after the 1963 assassination of her husband John F. Kennedy.

Smith’s essay also will be available on the WAMC website on Feb. 15.
