SUNY Empire State College Announces New Dean for the School of Nursing and Allied Health
Kim Stote Will Succeed School of Nursing and Allied Health’s Dean Who is Retiring After a Decade
(SARATOGA SPRINGS, NEW YORK – January 22, 2021) SUNY Empire State College today announced Kim S. Stote, Ph.D., MPH, RDN will succeed M. Bridget Nettleton, Ph.D., RN, CNE as dean for the School of Nursing and Allied Health. She had served as dean since 2011 and will continue to teach at SUNY Empire.
Prior to her new role as dean, Stote served as the associate dean of health professions for the School of Nursing and Allied Health, and has been a faculty member since 2009. She has a long-standing commitment to academic service and to the value of scholarship along with great dedication to mentorship for both students and faculty.
Stote is a clinician scientist conducting research on understanding how dietary components interact with physiological, sociological, and environmental factors that affect the health of the population. Her research experience also includes investigating the effects of differing food components in human health which resulted in a twice Fulbright Scholar award as the research chair of nutrisciences and health, at the University of Prince Edward Island, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics at SUNY Oneonta, went on to complete a dietetic internship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and became a registered dietitian/nutritionist (RDN). She earned a Master of Public Health from the School of Public Health at the University of South Florida, a Ph.D. in nutrition science from Syracuse University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center, United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service. She holds a research appointment at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY and is participating in Harvard Medical School’s Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program Class of 2021.
“Kim has been an invaluable member of our School of Nursing and Allied Health, and has the skills and experience necessary to fulfill this important role,” said SUNY Empire State College Officer in Charge Nathan Gonyea. “I look forward to working with Kim and supporting her as she focuses her efforts on advancing the incredible groundwork laid by her predecessor, Bridget Nettleton. Kim is the right person at the right time for this position.”

Stote officially assumes the position of dean today.
