SUNY Empire Hires Chief Diversity Officer Dale Dan, Ed.D.

Dale Dan, Ed.D. has been hired as the chief diversity officer at SUNY Empire State. She will also hold the title of visiting professor of business. Her tenure begins on March 16.

Dan has extensive experience leading diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts on college campuses, including DEI-driven curricular development and online teaching and learning. Dan is also a certified mediator with a background in conflict resolution. 

Audeliz Matías, Ph.D., has served as the college's interim chief diversity officer since July 2021. Prior to serving in the interim role, Matías was an associate professor teaching online courses and independent studies in geosciences and environmental sciences. Upon Dan's arrival, Matías will take on her new role of senior advisor to the provost.  

"Dale is passionate about finding ways to bring people together to address structural inequities and creating a more inclusive environment for students and employees," said SUNY Empire President Lisa Vollendorf.
