Register now for the Spring 2023 term!
Many of you are working hard to complete your fall term courses and we wish you the best of luck for a strong finish! Although it might be difficult to think about spring classes already, we encourage you to set aside some time to prepare for the spring term, which begins on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. To help you get ready, we’ve put together a checklist to help you remember what you need to do:
- If you don’t already have a 2022-23 FAFSA application on file, make sure you complete one by December 9, 2022.
- Before you register for classes, make sure you speak with your mentor to enroll in the courses appropriate for your degree program.
- REMEMBER: Faculty reading period begins Monday, December 19 and ends Friday, January 6.
- Most faculty will not be available during this time. Make sure to meet with your mentor before December 19 to discuss spring registration!
- Do you need help searching for classes in the term guide or officially registering? Contact Student Success and Development for help
- You can also attend Registration and Beyond to learn more – Thursday, December 8 from 6 to 7 p.m.

Once you’re registered, don’t forget to:
- Check the balance on your student account. Confirm your bill is covered; whether by personal payment, financial aid, or a voucher, so you don’t get deregistered.
- Read over your learning contracts (find these on your MyESC homepage)
- Purchase the required materials for your courses
- You can buy these at the SUNY Empire Bookstore or wherever you feel comfortable purchasing/renting textbooks.
- If your course is using Brightspace, familiarize yourself with the online platform by completing the self-paced tutorial.
- Preview week for spring is January 10 to 16, 2023, use this time to review your learning contract and/or course schedule. Get organized for the upcoming term.
Follow these checklists and you’ll be set up for academic success in the new year! Good luck!
