March is Women’s History Month, a celebration that has been observed annually in the U.S. since the 1980s to recognize the role of women in American history. As a tribute to the work of caregivers and frontline workers during the ongoing global health pandemic, this year’s theme is "Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope." As we continue to navigate the pandemic, I couldn’t think of a better time for such acknowledgment. SUNY Empire Launches M.S. in Applied Analytics Amid Growing Job Market Demand

SUNY Empire State College has launched its new M.S. in Applied Analytics degree program. The degree prepares students for careers as data analysts, business analysts, data scientists, and machine learning engineers. It also teaches managers the fundamental tools for gaining insight from organizational data and moving from intuition to data-driven decision making. Graduates can achieve meaningful careers in analytics or enhance existing careers using statistical tools and cutting-edge skills in data science and machine learning. PRODiG Students Spotlight

The goal of the SUNY Empire PRODiG Scholars Program is to support undergraduate and graduate student-scholars from historically underrepresented groups, including women in STEM disciplines, to progress into doctoral programs and faculty positions at institutions of higher learning. The 2021-22 Scholars cohort is comprised of 10 undergraduate and 10 graduate participants across fields of study and at different stages of their journey toward a career in academia. Faculty Spotlight: Karen Garner and Women’s History Month

For Women’s history month, we spoke with Karen Garner. Karen Garner has been teaching various history, women's studies, and global studies courses at Empire State College since 2005. Garner studied U.S. Foreign Relations and Modern China and conducts research and writing on women's and international history topics. She is the author of five books that focus on these wide-ranging historical topics. Most recently, Bloomsbury Academic Press published her textbook titled, Women and Gender in International History: Theory and Practice in June 2018 and Manchester University Press published her monograph titled Friends and Enemies: The Allies and Neutral Ireland in the Second World War in June 2021. ...
