October 18, 2021

Welcome!

October is an important month in the fall term.  Outside, the leaves are changing, and the initial back to school rush has slowed.  Students are well into their courses—submitting assignments, receiving feedback, attending workshops, or making learning coach appointments.  Registration for the fall express term is in full swing.  Students are even starting to sign up for spring courses.

It's also an important month for taking stock of who we are as a larger community.  The first half of the month continues the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month that began in mid-September (see mentor Raul Manzano’s art show).  On October 11, the college celebrates Indigenous People’s day.  The entire month is Italian-American Heritage Month, the subject of latest program in our Reason and Respect Series.  Our Information Technology office is promoting National Cybersecurity Awareness month, with topics like multifactor authentication and using password managers like LastPass.

As you work on your courses, be sure to look around at what the SUNY Empire community has to offer.  View an art show, attend a panel presentation, or login to the monthly Student Government Association meetings.

We look forward to seeing you!
