Teacher Opportunity Corps II (TOC)

OUR PURPOSE

The Teacher Opportunity Corps II (TOC), funded by the New York State Department of Education, is designed to increase the number of New York State teachers from underrepresented backgrounds. TOC provides academic supports to help students stay successful in their course work, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. TOC also offers ongoing mentorship from education faculty, enrichment programming specifically focused on topics related to culturally relevant issues facing the K-12 community, and placement opportunities at partner districts.*

*Currently, only considering those who can be placed at Albany or Schenectady City School District.

KEY PROGRAM COMPONENTS

  • Teacher preparation enrichment programming
  • Dedicated advisor to guide students along their selected teaching pathways
  • NYS teacher examination preparation
  • Culturally relevant training workshops and school-based field experiences
  • TOC Grant tuition benefit (for eligible students pursuing teacher certification pathways)

Currently, only considering those who can be placed as teachers in the Albany or Schenectady City School District.
