SUNY Empire’s International Programs Convenes “Black Music 101,” Honoring Black History Month, in Prague
SUNY Empire’s Associate Professor and European Academic Programs Director Sheila Marie Aird Moderates Panel
“Black Music 101,” an event honoring Black History Month, was presented by the U.S. Embassy in Prague’s American Center, in cooperation with SUNY Empire State College.
Held Feb. 21, 2018, on the campus of the University of New York in Prague, the college’s Center for International Program's partner in the Czech Republic, the event featured panelists and artists Juwana Jenkins, Bendjhi Villiers, Tonya Graves, an alumna of SUNY New Paltz, and Johnny Youngblood.
The panel was convened and moderated by SUNY Empire’s Associate Professor and European Academic Programs Director Sheila Marie Aird.
A lively discussion of African-American music, and its global influence, followed by a question-and-answer session made for an informative event for panelists, students, faculty and staff.
