(SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York – Jan. 6, 2020) SUNY Empire State College and New Era Cap have announced a partnership to help employees and retirees of New Era earn college degrees faster and at lower cost. This benefit is also extended to family members who reside in the households of eligible employees, and retirees of New Era.

By awarding college credit for previous learning, experience, and professional training, SUNY Empire helps New Era employees, retirees and family members minimize the cost and time needed to complete a degree. SUNY Empire also will waive the orientation fee and award a $100 Presidential Scholarship to eligible recipients.

New Era currently employs approximately 1,230 people across the globe with corporate headquarters located in Buffalo, New York. Recipients can earn their degrees entirely online, in person at any of SUNY Empire’s campuses throughout the state – including a campus in Buffalo -- or through a blend of both to build a schedule that works around their busy lives.

“SUNY Empire is excited to offer this excellent opportunity to the hardworking employees, retirees and family members of New Era,” said SUNY Empire President Jim Malatras. “Awarding credit for work and life experience to make a college degree more attainable for working professionals is what SUNY Empire is all about. We are excited to partner with New Era to expand educational opportunities and thank CEO Hoch for his leadership to finalize this partnership.”

SUNY Empire recently announced a partnership with Buffalo’s Northland Workforce Training Center to expand the center’s programs and help more Western New Yorkers get the education and training they’ll need to take advantage of the jobs of tomorrow.
