Professor Valeri Chukhlomin

(SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- December 18, 2023) Professor Valeri Chukhlomin virtually attended and served as a judge at the QS Reimagine Education Awards and Conference, which took place in Abu Dhabi from December 11-13. Nicknamed “the Oscars of Higher Education innovation”, it is a global event that showcases and celebrates the most promising innovations by leading universities, companies, governmental agencies, and edtech startups. Over 500 education leaders were in attendance.

Chukhlomin has participated three times as a judge in 2019, 2021, and 2023, focusing on projects in the “Nurturing Employability” category. He also presented Empire State University’s Coursera projects in 2015, 2016, and 2020, which were shortlisted in the competition.

“My involvement in the QS Conference raises the university's profile and recognition on the global stage,” Chukhlomin said. “Overall, participating in the conference is a fantastic opportunity for professional development.”

This year, over 1,200 innovative projects competed for bronze, silver, and gold awards in twelve categories, including: e-learning, ICT tools and apps, AI in education, best use of generative AI, immersive experiential learning, nurturing employability, lifelong learning, learning assessment, and innovations in business education. The competing teams were required to submit portfolios, including technical documentation, evidence of implementation, supporting research and publications, and showcasing videos.

“As a judge, I had the unique opportunity to review many breakthrough projects,” Chukhlomin said. “For example, Dreami is a startup that received a Gold Award for developing a scalable virtual mentorship model for working adults.”
