MSCH LogoEmpire State University’s 2027-2028 institutional reaccreditation process will reflect our deep commitment to continuous improvement and academic excellence. Rooted in the standards set by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), this process will engage the entire university community in meaningful discussions about the questions and issues most important to our institutional mission. The reaccreditation process will ensure that our programs and practices align with MSCHE’s rigorous standards while also fostering a culture of transparency and accountability. Faculty, staff, students, and administrators across the university will collaborate to assess our academic quality, address emerging challenges, and ensure we consistently meet our student success and institutional growth goals.

Self-Study Steering Committee

The Self-Study Steering Committee will guide SUNY Empire’s 2027-2028 accreditation review by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). This committee will be responsible for coordinating the self-study process and ensuring that the Self-Study Report reflects the institution's strengths and areas for improvement.

The steering committee co-chairs are Rashmi Prasad, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Tom Mackey, Ph.D., Professor of Arts and Media in the College of Arts and Science.

Supporting the steering committee and the broader self-study effort are Eileen McDonnell, the University’s Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO); Andre Foisy, Director of Assessment and Program Review; and Stephanie Thomas, Project Manager. Together, they provide accreditation, assessment, and project management expertise to support coordination and successful completion of the self-study process.

In addition to the steering committee co-chairs, the steering committee is composed of the co-chairs of the seven working groups, below.
