Zoe Bonaparte '23

Zoe Bonaparte

Zoe Bonaparte ’23 had an ambitious 10-year plan to get her associate degree in two years, her bachelor’s in three, and her master’s in five. Five years in, she’s still on track, with plans to become a family nurse practitioner.

Along the way, Zoe received the Davin Healthcare Nursing Scholarship, named for the healthcare staffing company owned and led by David Theobald ’13, ’17, who has a BS in nursing and MS in nursing education. The scholarship helped Zoe complete her final term at SUNY Empire. She graduated magma cum laude in 2023 with her B.S. in nursing.

Zoe, who lives in Hogansburg, NY, received her certificate for licensed practical nursing in 2018 from SUNY North Country Community College. She completed NCCC’s associate program in registered nursing in two academic years.

As Zoe explored her options for a bachelor’s program, she found herself faced with many enticing offers from online colleges throughout the country. “However, my loyalty remained with the SUNY system,” she says. “I recognized SUNY Empire’s reputation as a leader in online education and their well-established nursing program.”

She enrolled in SUNY Empire’s BSN program a few months after graduating in 2019. It was the perfect choice for someone who was a mother, a student, and a full-time nurse.

“The nursing program offers a practical pace and flexibility for working professionals, and I’m confident in the choices I’ve made for beginning and continuing my education in nursing,” Zoe says. “I look forward to working full time as a nurse for underserved populations before pursuing a master’s degree.”
