Sharon Butler is the Vice President for Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at SUNY Empire. In this position, Sharon focuses on enabling continuous improvement within HR, enhancing recruitment and retention strategies, employee relations, learning and development, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing work environment aligned with our contracts, laws, policies, and strategic objectives.
 
Prior to this role, Sharon served as senior vice president for human resources at Magellan Rx Management, USA, where she designed and executed an overall human capital strategy focused on the future of work that included: executive coaching, organization design and development, talent management and mobility, learning and development, and employee connectedness and inclusion strategies. Sharon has also held roles in the commercial, non-profit, and public sectors at organizations including the University at Albany, New York State Higher Education Services Corporation, and the American Cancer Society.
 
Sharon earned her bachelor’s degree at Empire State University and her master’s degree in organization and management at Sage Graduate School. She is pursuing a doctorate in business intelligence at Marymount University.
