Call for Collaborators – A Brain Awareness Art Exhibit at SUNY Empire

photos of brain project

Students are invited to participate in a fiber art project that will use yarn to create individual neurons. These brain cells will be assembled to create a representation of the hippocampus, a brain region that plays an important role in memory, learning, spatial processing, and emotions. If you’re interested in this project, contact  brainawareness@esc.edu. We will provide you with yarn, instructions to create the neuron, and details about submitting your piece of art. No experience with yarn or art exhibits is necessary to participate.

The project will be on display at the Brooklyn location in the Spring 2023 term as part of an art exhibit celebrating Brain Awareness Week, a global campaign that fosters public enthusiasm and support for brain science. Every March, partners host imaginative activities in their communities that share the wonders of the brain and the impact brain science has on our everyday lives. This campaign was founded by the Dana Foundation in 1995. We will host Brain Awareness Week at SUNY Empire  March 13-19, 2023. We will also hold seminars throughout the year, as part of our ongoing brain awareness efforts.
