Call for Students to Join PRODiG Pipelines to Academia Committee

The SUNY Empire PRODiG Pipelines to Academia Committee invites SUNY Empire students to consider joining the committee. Self-nominations should be submitted by December 7 at midnight.

PRODiG (Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Growth) is a system-wide initiative that aims to increase the numbers of historically underrepresented faculty at SUNY, including women in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. SUNY Empire joined this initiative in 2019 and built the Scholars Program as a pathway for students pursuing careers in academia.

The Pipelines to Academia Committee seeks student representatives who will help create additional pathways for students who envision a future in academia.

Students who wish to join the committee should:

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at SUNY Empire
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Have a strong interest in empowering underrepresented groups who wish to pursue careers in academia
  • Have ideas or even relevant experience in the creation of pipelines to academia

The selected representative(s) must be able to participate in monthly virtual meetings, which are usually held on the third Wednesday of the month in the early afternoon and last an hour. As a member of the committee, the student(s) will collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop initiatives for students that pave the way to careers as SUNY faculty.
