Bethany Hicks, Military Academic & Student Services Coordinator

Bethany Hicks, Military Academic and Student Services coordinator, at Empire State University, is a Veteran of the United States Army where she served for five years and was honorably discharged at rank of Sergeant-E5.

In the military she worked as a paralegal and in special duty assignments like the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers Coordinator on the largest military installation, Ft. Hood, TX. She worked with the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department and Family Readiness Group to plan and coordinate events for Soldiers and their families. She also played a key role in the eArmyU program to ensure all soldiers had a laptop to take college courses online.

Bethany earned her master’s degree in educational psychology from the College of Saint Rose, and her undergraduate degree in Psychology from SUNY Albany. She’s been working at SUNY Empire since 2005, mentoring and advising students across various areas of study, and most recently coordinating academic and student services for Military and Veteran students. She also teaches Educational Psychology.
