Strategic Priority: Student Success
Objective 1: Enhance student success by increasing retention and student satisfaction through inclusive practices.
- Goal 1: Create two micro-credential skill-building pathways annually (resulting in six micro-credentials by 2028), increasing the community’s capacity to navigate a pluralistic society.
Objective 2: Foster a sense of belonging and connection among diverse student populations.
- Goal 1: By 2028, increase student sense of belonging by 5% in relation to an established baseline on the Student Satisfaction Survey tool.
Strategic Priority: Academic and Inclusive Excellence
Objective 1: Support OAA to expand and scale approaches to inclusive practices university-wide.
- Goal 1: Allocate $12,000 in the ODEI budget annually to support faculty and staff professional development opportunities related to inclusive online pedagogy and practices.
- Goal 2: Establish and implement comprehensive language acquisition support initiatives for faculty and staff working with Spanish BBA students, with the aim of achieving 75% staff/faculty participation by December 2025.
Objective 2: In collaboration with the Office of Human Resources, create a SUNY Empire talent management plan that identifies and supports the recruitment, development, and retention of an employee base reflective of our student population.
- Goal 1: Engage every new hire with implicit bias training year over year with a goal of 100% participation.
- Goal 2: Implement ongoing advertising review and enhancement of recruitment outlets to a wider audience and increase underrepresented faculty and staff recruitment by 2% each year for five years with an aggregate of 10%.
- Goal 3: Maintain an annual employee retention rate of 85%.

Objective 1: Foster an environment that promotes mutual respect, advances clear communication, and engenders a culture of belonging, trust, and inclusivity.
- Goal 1: Create two cross-divisional opportunities annually for skill-building to enhance our ability to work collaboratively with the goal of 75% participation from staff and faculty by 2028.
Strategic Priority: Raising our Public Profile
Objective 1: In collaboration with offices and groups across the university, support efforts to enhance institutional recognition through the infusion and demonstration of nationally recognized best practices.
- Goal 1: Implement three new DEISJB best practices annually through internal community programming to enhance institutional commitment to inclusive excellence.
- Goal 2: In collaboration with Communications, increase representation of students, faculty, and staff that reflects the demographics of NYS in university media placements by 25% over baseline year over year.
Objective 2: Raise our institutional profile by promoting DEISJB best practices and initiatives externally.
- Goal 1: CDO/AVP and members of ODEI will engage in ten events annually with external organizations to disseminate information on newsworthy institutional DEISJB initiatives.
